MADTV is the newest addition to The University of Surrey’s Student Media. We aim to provide amusing, entertaining, informing and diverse programs for students.
MADTV started in 2008 as a drunken idea by Mike Frazer and Matt Goodwin. They thought the students of Surrey needed a new media to express their views and explore the medium of television by creating regular programming to “amuse, entertain and inform”. And so it began…
During the 2007/2008 academic year MADTV released its first program “The University of Surrey Student News” or USSN. Throughout the 2008 semester MADTV produced three 10-minute news shows covering stories from Starbucks mugs and Tesco shopping trolleys being stolen to democracy on campus and the quiet centre.

At the start of 2009/2010′s academic year MADTV’s team grew to over 20, allowing more ambitious shows to be produced more often. With the new branding and increased Union Support as we became an official society, we were able to produce a much more professional front to our increasing audience.
In 2010/2011 MADTV moved from a normal society to become an official Student Run Service of the Students’ Union. This change allowed the procurement of new equipment for the station and leading to our first live production with IGala as part of the Student Union International Festival.

In 2011/2012, MADTV has gone from strength to strength with our contribution to NASTA’s Freshers’ TV and new weekly Newsbite show as well as many other exciting projects. So watch this space!
